Custom Crating and Logistics is a family-owned business that is fully licensed and insured to manage our customer's packing, crating and shipping needs. We offer custom packing and crating services with dependable and fast service. Need something crated for shipment tomorrow? We can do it. We are located near Chicago O'Hare Airport (ORD) in Bensenville, Illinois. To get to our facility go east on Foster Avenue or west off of York/Elmhurst Road and South on Country Club Drive just southwest of O'Hare Airport.

LOCAL PICK UP AND DELIVERY:

We operate a straight truck and heavy van which allows us to pick up and deliver costumer materials to be packed and crated to our shop, and to deliver our customers crated and packed goods either to other carriers, freight forwarders or make direct deliveries on their behalf throughout our service area. We pick up throughout Northern Illinois and neighboring Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa and Michigan.

We also arrange pick ups and deliveries in the USA and Worldwide using our logistics partners through our freight forwarding associate.

As part of our service to overseas customers we act as your shipping agent and forwarder to obtain quality transportation services at good rates and will make bookings and function as the USPPI to export your materials to our customer consignees. We will always provide competitive shipping quotes to our customers and make all delivery arrangements if asked.

We partner with many Ocean and Air Freight Operators and Truck Lines to Ship our Customer's Goods from our Facility near Chicago O'Hare Airport (ORD) to our customers worldwide.

FULL PACKING, CRATING AND CORRUGATED CARTONS:

  • We make custom and production Crates, Platforms, Pallets, and Corrugated Cartons to meet all of your shipping needs.
  • We use steel bands, shock mounting, foam packing, shrink wrapping, vapor barriers, desiccants and other packing services.
  • We carefully hand pack fragile items like china, lab glassware, delicate laboratory equipment, electronic components, bio-pharma equipment and all delicate technical and scientific goods.
  • We take special care with Museum Exhibits and Displays, Architectural Models, Fine Art (Paintings on Canvas), Sculpture, antique and valuable furniture, antiques, pianos and other musical instruments, heirlooms and valuable family items of all kinds.

MACHINE RIGGING AND REMOVAL:

We have machine riggers and movers available to takedown, pack, rig out and move technical equipment and industrial machines of all kinds. This is one of the specialty services that we provide auction and other purchasers of used industrial commodities in getting their goods picked up and shipped to them.

Recently we have rigged and relocated food processing lines to a company in Egypt, pharmacological lines to firms in Australia, Brazil and India and we have played a major role in collection, packing and crating and shipping of large quantities of medical equipment and supplies to an emerging world class medical facility in Poland.

AUCTION:

Collection of Auction Materials, Packing, Crating and Shipping Worldwide. As your Authorized Representative, we will collect your auction purchases from the auction site, pack and crate and ship to you.

We have good relationships with and have worked with many major US and International Auction Houses. We have regular relatonships with International auction buyers and pick up and ship their materials to them on a scheduled basis and would be pleased to manage your collection and dispatch of your purchases to you.

Please contact us with details and send us copies of your "Paid in Full" invoice for a quote for services. We will also require additional paperwork before we can proceed, including your Authorization of Agency and Export Power of Attorney for International Shipments.



PRODUCTION CRATING DELIVERED TO YOUR FACILTY:

We offer manufacturers and other businesses of all kinds wooden crates on a production basis to meet your need for wooden packing materials of all kinds. In addition to our other packing, crating and shipping services, we also build long lasting reusable crates for use by Trade Show Exhibitors and Other Customers who need long lasting storage and re-usable shipping solutions for tradeshow display materials.

Regardless of the size of the display items, we will build robust and long lasting show crates using good quality lumber, glued, screwed and lag bolted construction. Interiors will be customized using special blocking and foam padding appropriate to each display. Loading and unloading issues will be carefully examined together with any other needs - for example, the need for extra space to store Show graphics, draperies, trade literature, a show tool kit. This gives our show crate customers a chance to rethink and better define their needs for their Trade Show Displays and the items that will accompany each Display to each Show.

These crates are built and intended to last a long time, and will use glue and screwed construction on panels and heavy platforms designed for heavy long term use. We take extra care with these crates and will do things like fit angle irons to protect corners, install extra gussets and reinforcements, Access panels will usually be on one side or top, and will be secured by carriage bolts, hasps for padlocks or specially constructed steel locking bars that will fit through access panels and the main crate and be lockable to guarantee full security of your show display.

The edges of the external frames will be routed, to prevent edges from being splintered or collecting other trade show rash due to rough handling - which is common at show setup and take-down due to rough handling.

Access panels will usually be on one side or top, and will be secured by carriage bolts, hasps for padlocks or specially constructed steel locking bars that will fit through access panels and the main crate and be lockable to guarantee full security of your show material.

We can fit custom foam and other cribbing and even built in folding or removable ramps to allow display on castors to be unloaded and then re-loaded and then secure within the crate during shipment. We will even paint the exterior with a coat of varnish, not to make it pretty but to help protect the wood from moisture and humidity.

We have built Show Crates that also serve as Show Display Fixtures with draperies or other appropriate coverings over them to display machines and which don't have to be removed from your booth Area after setting up. Having the crate as part of your Display sometimes will allow you to take your exhibit down. Pack it and then leave the same day. This will reduce the on-site show labor costs considerably, in that all they will have to do is forklift your crate(s) to the docks and load. Handling is minimized.

We are certified by the MFSC / ALSC to affix our US-0037 HT MFPA Quality Mark (Stamp) on all wooding packing products that we produce, and is shown below:

IPPC 15 confirmity. All of our crates, dunnage and other wooden packing materials will display this stamp which is necessary for shipping goods to the 134 countries around the world that require this mark on imports.
